These elegant handmade porcelain ornaments started out as wheel thrown forms that I have then made molds of. Then they are slip cast to be light and ready for my delicate decoration. Each unique ornament is lovingly hand decorated one by one with various surface design and decoration techniques, such as incising, Mishima, carving, slip trailing, and sprigging. After bisque firing the ornaments are glazed and fired to 2,232 degrees in an electric kiln. Finally, the ornaments are hand-painted with real gold lusters and fired a third and final time. Each ornament comes on a wind-in ornament hook to keep them secure on real or faux branches.
